Tehran Disaster Risk Mitigation and Emergency Management Organization visits IPCU

Tehran Disaster Risk Mitigation and Emergency Management Organization (TDMMO), the authority in the field of disaster mitigation in Tehran, capital of Iran, made an important visit to IPCU between January 11 and 15, 2016.

Following the preliminary meetings in “International Exhibition and Conference of Security, Safety Disaster Management in Natural Disasters” organized on 30 December 2015 in Tehran, capital city of Iran, Iran Disaster Risk Mitigation and Emergency Management Organization (TDMMO) President Dr. Ahmad Sadeghi and the committee accompanying him visited Istanbul and had meetings with Haluk Nadir, Deputy Governor of Istanbul, IPCU authorities and Istanbul Metropolitan City managers. In the meetings, Istanbul Project Coordination Unit (IPCU) Director Kazım Gökhan Elgin and his team had discussions where the decisions of Third World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction and the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction were also evaluated.

Representatives of both parties came to a mutual conclusion to cooperate in community-based disaster management, risk reduction, preparation and response phases. The parties will also continue to share their implementations and experiences with each other. Moreover, it was decided to contribute to global attempts by means of platforms and forums.
