EARTHQUAKE RISK in ISTANBUL
According to the İstanbul Earthquake Master Plan dated 2003, the probability of a massive earthquake occurrence in İstanbul in the next 30 years is estimated at 62% ± 12. As also shown by GeoHazards International, İstanbul is one of the top three cities of the world that has the highest earthquake risk with potential of destructive consequences.
OUR GOAL
As Istanbul Project Coordination Unit (IPCU) established under Istanbul Governorship, we have started to work for Istanbul Seismic Risk Mitigation and Emergency Preparedness Project (ISMEP) since 2006 with "We are strengthening our future" slogan, to reduce the loss of life and property in a possible earthquake in İstanbul.
